So I often get asked what I use to make beats and I can solidly say that I was one of the first guys to start using Maschine from day 1 (2009). I was also one of the first to move over from Seraro to Traktor as well. (don’t roll your eyes!)
For those of you who know KANO (Moog Audio), he was the one who introduced me to Maschine upon returning my MPC for repair (again). He asked me to try it out and if I liked it, I could keep it. The rest is history as they say.
Needless to say over the years I grew with the brand and updated everything to now where I use Maschine Studio, Maschine Jam and Komplete Kontrol S49 for all of my production. I’ve used this setup to produce beats for:
This is my setup where I create a lot of my pre-production before moving it over to my home studio where I use Pro Tools and an array of plugins to complete the mixdown. (I’ll share what I use in another post!)
I’m obviously asked if I prefer Maschine to MPC and honestly, I like using Maschine with it’s PC interface as using that small screen on an MPC became tiring (for me) after a while. I also hear the argument of the MPC sound and although it’s true to some degree, I also believe in making the most of out MY mix without trying to recreate what others do. I truly believe in being original instead of trying to sound like the “b version” of someone else….that’s just me.
Anyhow, these are my tools and should anyone have any questions or further comments about it, hit me up in the comment section anytime.
